Standard Chartered is to continue creating jobs, after adding 7,000 new recruits to their workforce so far this year, has been reported. According to Bloomberg, the financial services provider is hoping to add 2,000 jobs in Singapore to finance its operations in 2012, while also hopes to increase its workforce in India by 2,500.

The finance director Richard Meddings said the business has built a "good time" in terms of recruitment and continues to rent. But he added that this step may be reduced during the fourth quarter as a period that is traditionally difficult to attract new employees, who may be waiting for a voucher to come through his current employer. Mr Meddings said the new tax on banks introduced in the UK by George Osborne will not have a significant impact on the company and is "broadly in line" with expectations.
